Balancing Secrecy and Honesty

Let us define both of these terms so that we are all on the same path. Honesty means integrity and trustworthiness. You must first be true to you before you can share those values with others. It is vital for one's self-worth and selfpreservation, to honestly evaluate one's thoughts, behaviors and beliefs. The key here is not to do, say or act in any way that would harm self, another or the environment

Secrets are those things, words, actions or beliefs that you or someone wants kept from common knowledge. If you have a secret that when shared with others will harm you or another, than it is honestly in your best interest to keep it protected. If, however, you were asked to keep a secret that if not disclosed will create great harm to others and the world order, than it is for the common good that this information must be revealed. I believe that this is the time and opportunity for one to use their common sense and inner consciousness to guide and support your decision. If someone asks you to hold something in confidence and you are not prepared to do so, I suggest that you politely and honestly share you willingness or lack thereof to meet their request.

A powerful statement that I say often to clients is to have open and honest communication with yourself and with others. You must like yourself enough to be true to you. As a result, you will be benefiting all parties. Allow yourself to look in the mirror and give yourself permission to be clear with who you are and what it is you are looking for. When we as members of this world are in our truth and honesty with ourselves, we must look at Who we are, What are we doing each day to make this a better place to live for ourselves and others and why have I come to this planet at this time and place. Then and only then can you stand in your power and say with Whom do I choose to share it with. When you stand in honesty and truthfulness, you will know what best serves you and do what is best for you.

Then you will own the light within you and your energy will flow out in a brilliant way and everyone will benefit.

Many Blessings,

Turn your New Year's Resolutions Into Reality in 2008

Get Success for Your New Year’s Resolutions in 2008
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Life

How many times have you sat down and wrote out resolutions; and for some reason or another, those resolutions seemed to disappear as the New Year came and went? Well, this year, you can make a positive impact on your life and turn your resolutions into genuine reality!

The secret to keeping your New Year's resolutions is to rely on your intuition and allow positive energy that flows from within to guide you in your journey toward wealth, health and prosperity. Be prepared and know that blessings will come to you when you are ready to receive them. It's not rocket science, and it doesn't take millions of dollars to realize your goals. It's all in the planning, and the follow-through.

Just like any well-planned trip, you have to mentally and emotionally prepare yourself for your journey. Have you written down your resolutions yet? If not, it's time to take out a pen and paper and write down the top 10 aspirations you would like to achieve this coming year. Go out on a limb and write down your goals as you would like to receive them. For example, if having a more rewarding career is most important to you, then place this goal at the top of your list. Look at it. Study it. Picture that goal in your mind. Got it? Now, move on down your list. What's next on your agenda? A possible love relationship? Repeat what you have just done with your number one priority: write it down, look at it and visualize it being there right in front of you. Do this with everything you would like to attain in this coming year.

Okay, you've written down all your goals; you've read them back to yourself and you've visualized what you want - so now what? The hard part has already been done - you've made a pact with yourself and your intuition to lead you in the right direction toward manifesting wealth and prosperity. Once you allow your intuition to guide you, the rest will come to you. How so? You see, the first steps to achieving success in this New Year are laid out before you. You have created your own roadmap to fulfilling your destiny; and believe it or not, if you follow your intuitive map, you will attain the rewards that you have planned for yourself.

The next plan of action is to act on these goals. Easier said then done, you say? Well, if you've uttered those four words, then you've stepped off your roadmap and you've stopped listening to your intuition. Stop. Breathe. Get back onto your intuitive map, which you've created for yourself and follow its lead. Look at your goals and get a sense of purpose for those goals.

Ask yourself the five following questions:

Why is this goal important to me?
What do I need to do to turn this goal into a reality?
How can I achieve this goal?
What steps can I take to ensuring a positive outcome?
Is there anything that I can do right this moment to set my plan into action?

Now that you've explored these questions, and have looked within your intuitive self for the right answers, it's time to follow your instinct, your Inner Intelligence. If your New Year's quest is to find true love, you CAN and WILL discover your better half in 2008. The wheels have already been put into motion, and once destiny's wheels have begun to spin, there's no turning back…that is, unless you sabotage yourself. Now, more than ever, you can turn this year into winning opportunities for yourself and your life. By facilitating your intuition, you can transform your life by reinventing ways and means to manifest the success that you so desire. Climb onboard your intuitive train, allow your Inner Intelligence, Your Inner Wisdom to work for and with you and follow the journey to your hearts desires; the tracks have already been laid.

Wishing you a year full of health, happiness and prosperity, I am

Joan Marie, your Intuition Expert

"Hi Joan Marie, I keep hearing you on Laura Smith's radio show, and I have to tell you how much I enjoy listening! You have a very special gift.. how lucky that you found it!! I would love to do a reading with you. Do you do readings over the phone? I live in Chicago, but do travel frequently to LA so an in-person consultation is certainly possible. I am going through a huge transition in my life and I'd love to know where this is headed! I look forward to speaking to you." -- Louanne Fries

"I just wanted to share with you my experience this morning. I have just started to listen to your show in the last few weeks. I live in a small town in Montana and I have a good friend named Keri. We have recently talked about calling you. We both tried today and both got on. I was Dee (Dana) from Montana and she was Keri from Montana. We instantly called each other afterwards and felt it was magical. I am a nurse and a massage therapist, she is a massage therapist and have often discussed trying out a type of spa together but give in to the insecurities and doubt of being able to do it in a small town like ours. I wondered if there was any meaning to the fact that we both got on together today. You were right on today, I am feeling the unrest in my soul of "settling" and want more. I believe in the whole process but seem to be stuck on something in my thinking that keeps me here." -- Dana Seidel

Thank you!

A Funny Thing ...

A funny thing happened to me at a cocktail party hosted by Ali Brown last week.  I was sharing my gifts of communicating with those who have passed over and I happened to look right at Bill Glazer when I said this.  "Well Bill Glazer blurted out why are you looking at me when you talk about the dead?"

My comment to Bill Glazer was funny you should ask.  I replied, "You see today while you were on stage at Ali Brown's Internet Blue print workshop I was watching you and your grandfather was on stage with you."  Bill Glazer looked at me and apparently he turned white.  Good thing I have a sense of humor and I threw  in some good wit and gave him some messages from his father's father.  Now if you do not know who Bill Glazer is, he is extremely intelligent in the Marketing Industry.  He and Dan Kennedy have teamed up and have created a business empire helping people market their business, increase sales and make a lot of money.  Dan Kennedy and Bill Glazer have many wonderful products and are brilliant copy writers as well.

The following day I ran into Bill Glazer before Ali Brown's Internet Marketing program was going to begin.  At first I think he wanted to run from me, but we did have a great conversation.  Of course Bill Glazer has never heard of what I do and it fascinated him to some extent.  OK the fact is…. He might have thought I was crazy but I intrigued him enough that while he was back on stage during Ali Browns workshop he brought me up the whole time he was speaking to the group and referred to my one line with him, "Your grandfather is on stage" and turned that into a funny comedic routine himself.  By the time he finished speaking everyone in the room knew who I was.

I wonder if he is going to share with Dan Kennedy this experience.  I am thinking he will keep it to himself.  Maybe he will mention it to his wife though she would be interested in what I do.

Creating Action Through Intention with Manifestation Method

As an Intuition Expert, one of the most amazing features I’ve discovered in the Manifestation Method is transforming your life is more simple than you think.  In one of my earlier articles, I relayed a story about how things aren’t always as they seem (for your higher good); now, I’m going to tell you how to manifest opportunity for yourself by presenting yet another great parable:

A modern-day Indian Chief wanted to prove to his people that he could foretell the weather.  However, he was not wise to the ancient ways, so he had to rely on his gut feeling and ingenuity.  One of the first things he did was advise his villagers to gather lots of wood for the winter. As a practical individual, he also contacted the National Weather Service (NWS) to inquire as to how the weather was going to be during the winter.  The Meteorologist replied that the weather would indeed be very cold during the coming months.

Indian Chief continued calling the NWS and relaying the same message over and over to his tribe to make them believe that not only could he foretell the weather, but that wood was necessary to prepare for it.  As time went by, the Indian Chief called the National Weather Service one last time to reconfirm his weather concerns.  When the Indian Chief asked the weathercaster how come he was so certain about the impending cold climate, the Meteorologist replied, “Because the Indians are collecting firewood like crazy.” While this may be a very funny story, isn’t it amazing how quickly one event led to a chain of events all on behalf of one man’s intention?

The Manifestation Method is much like this.  When we begin to think, we act; and when we act, a chain of positive events occurs without our ever knowing it.  Planting the seed of thought and moving forward with intention,  pools all our resources in creating the change we want to see and become.  The Indian in the story wanted to be an influential leader to his tribe, and because he used rational reasoning, along with a little inspiration and intuition, he was able to manifest transformation with thoughts first - then action.

The Manifestation Method is more than just portraying a wealthy appearance, you must believe that you are wealthy inside and outside.  Creating change in life is not difficult if we only find the motivation from within; and in every one of us, is an intuition expert struggling to get out and redefine our lives.  What is your intention in life?  Is manifesting your dreams your heart’s desire?  Do you yearn for a successful career? Relationship? A new home?  The Manifestation Method is a personal and professional growth tool that unlocks your innate abilities to succeed.  Like the Indian Chief who merely wanted to demonstrate his leadership, you can plant the thought and manifest your destiny by putting your intuition to work for you.

Through the Manifestation Method, your intuition becomes heightened; your sense of awareness more keen; your abilities more capable; and your actions more intentional - more refined.  In the Manifestation Method, you create a wealthy appearance, heightened perception, increased sense of self-worth, and real desire for change and transformation.

What makes the Manifestation Method so practical?  Like any quality teaching tool, the Manifestation Method teaches you to facilitate your intuitive powers the way they were intended to be used. Once you’ve been introduced to your innate capabilities, you begin to represent your intentions by portraying a wealthy appearance and a healthy mindset toward achieving your hearts desires.

Intuition Glossary - Ancient Wisdom

Ancient Wisdom is as diverse as time itself.  Delving into the yesteryears of infancy, to the outer limits of the Akashic Records, Ancient Wisdom is accessible through anthropologic studies, meditation, spiritual intuition and the higher consciousness.  Part of Ancient Wisdom, too, is when we have connected to the oneness of the self and our Divine Being; it is then, that we become a direct link to the great ancient civilizations and their innate wisdoms.

As distant as it may seem, Ancient Wisdom is a remarkable tool that all individuals have the ability to reveal, explore and facilitate in every day life.  From times of old, Ancient Wisdom can be found across the pages of some of the greatest historical literature; including the books of the Bible.

Buddha, who held many secrets to Ancient Wisdom once said, "He who understands the Teaching will not tarry in applying it to life."  Ancient Wisdom, which has been handed down from our ancestors is inherently etched within our ever-living souls. When we apply the lessons that are learned from time, quantum physics, and the physical interaction between the realms of the physical world and the ethereal world, we discover our true purpose in our lives; the intuitive guidance to move forward; and the understanding to perceive all things through an impassioned perception of truth.

The Flow of Intuition and the Power of Human Emotion

In the book, "Emotional Intelligence," author Daniel Goleman writes, "Being able to enter flow is emotional intelligence at its best; flow represents perhaps the ultimate in harnessing the emotions in the service of performance and learning.  In flow the emotions are not just contained and channeled, but positive, energized, and aligned with the task at hand.  To be caught in the ennui of depression or the agitation of anxiety is to be barred from flow."(1)

You see, flow is indicative of intuition working at its finest in combination with the brain's instinctive power to harness positively-charged and rational thinking.  The recent article (Do What You Feel, Maybe – the power and perils of relying on intuition)(2) by David G. Myers, social psychologist at Hope College elaborates on the "perils" of relying on intuition, and presents "intuitive" statements from our current president; one in particular, where he met with Russian President Putin, "I looked the man in the eye. I was able to get a sense of his soul."  In reflection, I understand how some might view this form of "intuition" as inflated or overconfident; but if we refer back to the analogy of Goleman, we can surmise that individuals who are experiencing heightened levels of anxiety or depression (or other mental or emotional issues) may not be able to rationally form an intuitive opinion when flow has been blocked.

Flight-or-fight response (3), the theory proposed by American physiologist Walter Cannon in 1915, probably gives a better psychological perspective into how intuition and "flow" work so well together.  Basing his research on animals, Cannon understood that primal instincts in animals were initiated by the flight-or-fight response; which demonstrated that thought processes were at work in the body that manifested physical responses to the situation at hand.  For example, perception plays a key part in how both animals and human beings react to specific events based on signals sensed by the brain.  Some of the physiological findings showed that automatic/immediate responses like heart and lung acceleration, blood vessel constriction, pupil dilation, among other physical changes were all indicative of intuitive perception.

While practiced individuals have a more fine-tuned, and discernable "flow" of intuition, others may not be so adept at preconception as they have permitted -- or are under the influence of certain stress factors, narcissistic tendencies, or other psychological trauma that curtails intuitive abilities. Hyper-inflation of the human's perception often leads to misconstrued signals, unwarranted attacks; or worse - complete ignorance of the facts.  Allow me to revisit Goleman's statement, "In flow the emotions are not just contained and channeled, but positive, energized, and aligned with the task at hand."  If we simply repeat this sentence, we understand that intuition is comprised of more than what some might deem "psycho-babble;" intuitive flow is the sum of all parts working in harmony - mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Appropriately so, we must learn to quickly decipher what the mind's eye perceives.  To do so, one must have reached a level of intimacy with the collective unconscious.  According to Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist, the "collective unconscious" is known to be a "reservoir of the experiences of our species."  Interestingly enough, the intuitive flow that helps individuals to become successful, wise and able to manifest transformation stems from the "collective unconscious"(4) that Jung studied and theorized during the early 1900's.

Is it really all that far from belief? The power of human emotion, coupled with the positive flow of intuition is what defines greatness.  Fine leaders like the Dalai Lama, Jesus Christ, Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, and Isaac Newton all demonstrated specific commonalities - steadfastness, determination and calmness.  When you are completely centered, your intuitive flow is more reliable, more fortuitous...and using your collective unconscious as your guide, your flight-or-fight responsiveness becomes more clear, and success becomes you.

The Difference Between Intuition and False Thinking...

In a recent article in USA Today, reporter Karen S. Peterson writes about social psychologists and researchers, who claim that their research is geared toward "fortifying intuition, sharpening thinking and deepening wisdom." Stuart Vyse, a psychologist, however, stated that "...it has been shown over and over again that gut reactions are not accurate. It is a mistake to base a decision on a gut feeling." I beg to differ. Intuition, "gut feeling" and "hunches" are often the saving grace to many a soul.

In an article by the Crime Library, "What They Did Last Summer," novelist Lois Duncan (author of "I Know What You Did Last Summer") incurred a tragic, life-altering event when her daughter, 17-year old Kaitlyn was murdered. Using intuition and psychic detective work, the case was subsequently solved. The difficulty that intuition presents, as Myers points out, is that there are many false prophets who claim to know all and see all; and like any bad apple in the bunch, spoils the whole lot.

Many times, it has been intuition and "gut feeling" that has saved people from many a tragedy. What makes a complete stranger jump before a racing subway train to save another human being? Recent heroism, like that of Navy veteran Wesley Autrey of NY proved that making a split-second decision to save a convulsing man on the tracks was critical. Some might call that stupidity - others might call it luck; I call that intuition. Mr. Autrey, in response to why he had jumped onto the tracks was, "I did what I felt was right." Had his intuition not taken over at that precise second, the man on the tracks would not be alive today.

What makes a person do incredible human feats? Is it simply "adrenaline;" or is adrenaline part of the "gut feeling" or "intuition" that gives us the insight to make strategic plans, and sometimes, lead us down the "right path" in our lives? Another case of intuition...or as some may call it luck...involves a family who decided to take the bus instead of taking the train on a cross-country trip in Germany. The train derailed. Coincidence? Then there's chains of "coincidences," like the many who decided not to work on the morning of 9/11. Was that mere coincidence or intuition?

Another case of "intuition," involves a young woman who chose to call into work one early Saturday morning. She worked in a sportswear distribution warehouse. On the morning that she was scheduled to work, all the 20+ foot aisles of ton-weight clothing racks toppled like dominoes in the area she would have been working. Gut feeling? Coincidence? What makes a passerby jump into a lake to save a drowning stranger? Is that simply being a "hero?" No, the commonality of all of these cases is that no one wakes up one morning and says, "Oh, I think I'll be a hero today," or "I think I'll save someone's (or my own) life today."

Intuition is likening to that of "EQ" (Emotional Intelligence). Without it, many people would not even survive. These are instinctive emotions and "gut feelings" that are inherent in the human being. The difference between intuition and false thinking is that your ego mind gets in the way and you want something and want an experience that might not be best for you. False thinking is not hearing the truth of your reality and not wanting to live in truth in that moment. Can a hunch prove to not come true absolutely? The key is to look deeper into the feeling of what was really going on and get the lesson behind it. In general, individuals who have clouded their minds with greed and other habitual tendencies may not be able to think clearly; therefore intuition becomes just as clouded.

I believe that intuition, as our emotional intelligence, is the driving factor in what makes people succeed in life...draws people to each other in positive relationships...transforms our perception and makes us the best humane and compassionate people we can be; both personally and professionally. The major issue that surrounds intuition and developing intuition is not so much that we don't instinctively have intuition; it's the fact that we don't listen to it, or abide by it -- and that's when we end up getting ourselves in a pickle.

Intuition, like any other learning module, must be fine-tuned to deliver the best results; whether you use it effectively, well, that's entirely up to you. Until we speak again...I am Joan Marie, your Intuition Expert

Happy Halloween from Joan Marie!

Well, it is that time again…The time Ghosts, goblins and scary spirits are hanging around.  It's a time when it is cool to scare people and to be scared.  It's Halloween and it is the time of year where it is acceptable for me to have my gifts and be a Medium and an Intuitive.  This is the time when everyone assumes that the Spirits come out to play.  People have visions and stories of ghosts lurking around homes eating their food, moving important papers and waiting to trip you up!!!!

Well, I am not sure if you all realize it or not but the Spirits are around us all year round.  And guess what - they do not have to be scary.  I can honestly say I am a scardy-cat.  I get nervous if I see spirits hanging around.  I will always ask what they want so they can leave quickly.

My friend Meredith used to live in Boston when she was going to college.  The house she shared with friends was haunted.  She used to hear spirits laughing on the phone when she was with her mother.  This summer she went back to Boston to visit friends and she stopped by the haunted house and took all of these pictures of spirits hanging around.  At first when she showed me the pictures I could not see any of the spirits.  Now I thought this was odd since I see and talk to them on a regular basis for my clients but here in the pictures I could not see them.  Meredith was definitely getting frustrated when she would say, "Don't you see the man in the window with the dog?"  Finally, I could see the Spirits; ten minutes later…it was freaky and scary.  How weird to just see these dead people hanging in a window frame - in the door way, up a tree.  I could see the details of their faces, the cloths they had on, and what their lives were like.

Now mind you this is what I do for a living but it still freaks me out.  I must admit I was home the last two Friday nights and I turned on the Ghost Whisperer on CBS.  To me this show at times is a bit scary.  I actually did not watch this past Friday night because it was too much for me.  There are people out there who love scary movies and love getting scared, not me.  When my cousin Eileen and I saw the Sixth Sense many years ago I was frightened.

For me - what I do is fun, healing and exhilarating.  I love taking clients and giving them confirmation that their loved ones are still with them.  Some people are still so shocked when you start giving details of their kitchen or what they did yesterday to confirm that their father or grandmother is still around.  This, to me, brings joy and a sense of purpose.  I love what I do; I do not think it is weird or scary.  I think who I am is normal.

Great tips to talking to those passed over:

  • Ask your loved ones to visit you in a dream and give you some messages.
  • Give them an assignment to help you with some challenges in your life.
  • Ask them to let you feel their presence when they are around.

A sign that your loved ones are with you is when all of a sudden you're thinking of them for no reason, this could be their way of getting your attention.  You could smell your mother's sweet perfume.  This is her way of saying I am here.

We are not bothering our loved ones who have crossed; use them and ask for help

Warm Blessings,

Finding Forgiveness ...

I read the entire article and found it to be beautiful.  How healing and refreshing to discover that some who have been injured by the frailties of others, and more pointedly the religious figures of the church can forgive and offer compassion and healing love.  This to me is truly what it is all about. Too many times in my life I have remembered the words:  ” Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing.”

It is all too easy to take advantage of others through your power, your position and your money and it is evident daily that this behavior is rampant in our Country. As likewise, it is most unfortunate that the young are vulnerable to the authority of the church;too many of us have been injured and taken advantage of in the name of religion. But how refreshing and beautiful to read and see that some of us are truly living the life that we were meant to live.  To harbor hatred, anger and unforgiveness is a sickness in itself and one who lives with those lower based energies can not heal or find true inner peace.  The desire to see the bigger picture and move on with your life is truly the gift, that is, the gift to self.  ” I believe that:” What we say and what we think, is what we will become.”

Therefore, I choose to think, say and act in a positive and caring way so that I can create the life that I desire and most certainly choose. If more individuals in our world would let go of their resentment, anger and desire to get even, there would be less sickness and dis-ease in the world. We would most certainly begin to spread positive magnetic energy to others and in turn, in the world.  Just think about it a moment!  The possibility of actually letting go of the past and walking forward with our heads held high, pursuing a greater purpose—This is what I hope my legacy will be.  It is so easy to blame others for the way we feel but the truth is, we are the creators of our own destiny.  Adversity is truly the greatest opportunity to pause and think about what is happening.

It is good and noble to forgive especially if we have been rewarded a great deal of money by the courts but it is far nobler to have been injured and still to forgive with no monetary consideration and no recognition from the outside because you know in your heart and soul that your healing can only be whole and complete when you are willing to let go and forgive. This is the power of true freedom.

Finding Forgiveness…

Lori Haigh has a change of heart toward the priest she says 25 years ago ignored her cries of abuse by another clergyman.

September 22, 2007

Los Angeles Times Online

It should have been a deliciously satisfying moment for Lori Haigh, a form of vindication a quarter-century in the making. It’s not a stretch to say she had hoped for years for something just like it — when an official of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange would break emotionally and show at least a flicker of the same kind of suffering she’d felt so many times after being molested by a priest when she was a teenager.

Then, it seemingly happened. While giving a deposition in July in an unrelated sexual abuse case involving a former Mater Dei High School coach, Msgr. John Urell teared up and became distraught enough that the plaintiff’s attorney asked if he needed a break.

Urell took advantage of the offer and, clearly upset, was excused from further testimony that day. He has not resumed his testimony and, earlier this month, was sent to a Canadian medical treatment center for clergymen.

Urell was no bit player in Haigh’s life. He was one of two priests she sought out in 1982, she says, to reveal that another parish priest had molested her during her high school years. Expecting compassion from Urell, she says, he rebuked her and told her never to return to his church.

So when she learned recently of Urell’s distress in the deposition room, she says she would have expected to relish his discomfort.

But to her amazement and that of her inner circle who have known of her 25-year struggle to deal with the molestation, something that feels like forgiveness has come to her.

“I wish I could talk to him,” she says.

Where does that desire come from? “I have no idea,” she says.

But it was so strong that she sent an e-mail to Urell’s attorney that began: “My heart goes out to John Urell. . . . I hope he can find the road to peace of mind.”

That’s a far cry from what Haigh had been harboring in her heart all these years. “I had been waiting for this judgment day for him,” she says by phone. “It’s so strange how time can move both fast and slow.” Her meeting with Urell happened in 1982, she says, but it also seems like yesterday.

Urell was the kindly priest she thought would help when she told of being molested by another priest. Instead, she says, Urell “really put me through the wringer.”

The priest in question, John Lenihan, later admitted to sexual activity with young girls. Haigh alleged that Lenihan impregnated her and paid for her abortion. In 2002, she received a $1.2-million settlement from the Orange Diocese.

“I saw Urell as the person who would be the most apt to listen to me,” she says. “What he did was turn bright red. He was mad. He said, ‘How many other people have you told this story to? How long have you been telling this story?’ He intimidated and humiliated me and told me to leave and that he never wanted to see me in his church again.”

It’s unclear whether U
